I wrote this song after reading "A Constellation of Vital Phenomena" by Anthony Marra. It's a gut-wrenching and gorgeous novel that pretty much stomped on my one heart but left my 206 bones intact.

I have had this song mostly ready for a while now - 3 years or more. Just needed to finish the bridge, and actually record it. I always found it funny that it had the rather prescient line "when you pare it down to the last few things, well the last few things to get done are always the hardest." We've been trying to get this album done for what feels like forever and that line always made me smile because it really seems to apply in this case.

Sometimes, dragging things across the finish line, kicking and screaming, is the only way to get it done.
