A few things:
1. I love this song.
2. This song may not be on the new album.

When we made "The Burn The Truth The Lies," we ended up having to cut "Change Your Disguise" because the demo couldn't quite get up to the level of the other songs on the record. It was a tough one to cut, but the album was tighter for having done so (and happily, CYD will appear on the new album, but more on that later).

"The Try," thematically, fits in perfectly with a number of the songs on this record, including "Mending Fences" and "Delicate" and "New Year." It's about not giving up, about digging in when you want to run away.

We finished tracking the songs for this album in late August, and at first we weren't sure that we had the final performance that we really wanted for this song. For me, it's too important of a song to release halfway. But we didn't want to give up on it, so today we added some vocals and percussion, and now we're going to hang out with this demo for a while to decide if it's going to make the cut or not. For that reason, it's not in the AOTY collection at the moment but is a standalone single.

We can save ourselves
